MISSION Statements: Five Reflections from 2025

By Jim Dwane, MISSION US CEO

MISSION launched in 2021 with a singular goal: to empower world-class talent to build specialist insurance programs. In the five years since, we have done so in spades, helping entrepreneurial underwriters develop their businesses while creating an exceptional ecosystem where these programs continue to thrive.

In 2025, we grew our team, improved processes, and upped our value proposition: all of this led to extraordinary results. In the spirit of our upcoming five-year anniversary, here are MISSION’s five biggest accomplishments in 2025:

Growth

Over the course of 2025, we continued our consistent and calculated growth trajectory. We grew in excess of 60% in premium year over year, exceeding 2024’s $500 million+ GWP.

The programs space has been and will continue to be one of the fastest growing sectors of the market, and over the past five years, our growth story reflects the lightning-in-a-bottle moments we’ve captured in the market. We’ll finish 2025 with a GWP north of $700M, the launch of five new programs, 14 expansions, a complete rebrand of MISSION ‘s visual identity, and a staff of 93 corporate employees supporting 125 program members.

Launches

We are proud to have added five new programs to our portfolio in 2025, adding outstanding leaders to our increasingly impressive team. These launches include:

  • Laplace Alternative Risk Solutions: founded by industry veteran Richard Zhang, Laplace is focused on alternative risk transfer solutions for large insureds with complex, and hard-to-place risks.
  • Hill County Underwriters: launched by David Henry and Matt McDonald in the Texas market, Hill Country Underwriters provides casualty insurance (general liability and inland marine) for artisan trade contractors.
  • Plaisance Underwriters: 25-year industry veteran Caroline Murray launched Plaisance to provide specialized liability coverage, specifically Sexual Abuse and Molestation (SAM) coverage products, for large institutions and their vendors.
  • ShelterWind: led by insurance industry leader Simon Hudson, ShelterWind provides supplemental insurance to ease the claims process for property owners, launching with an all-wind and hail deductible buyback insurance policy.
  • Diamond Head Specialty Underwriting: Bryant Baloloy brings his three decades of Management Liability underwriting experience to Diamond Head, delivering tailored executive liability coverage solutions to protect small businesses and leaders against emerging risks.

These successful launches reflect a core strength of our portfolio of programs: the diversity of our product and service offerings. Our dynamic teams are able to respond to emerging risks and market shifts through our diversity and variety of expertise.

Technology

As our organization grew and we launched new programs, we recognized the need for our technology capabilities to scale as well. 2025 was a transformative year for MISSION’s tech team, with our new Chief Technology Officer Sujatha Raju coming aboard in June. Sujatha joins the team with extensive experience leading technology transformation with plans to enhance MISSION’s IT strategy.

In May, MISSION announced its acquisition of Talage, a submission management platform for the commercial insurance industry. This strategic acquisition expands our digital distribution tools for our network of program partners, adding an in-house and trusted technology platform.

As we look toward 2026, our team is investing in and enhancing our AI strategy. We are actively engaging in both internal and external tools that would benefit our organization, targeting specific areas of our business for AI implementation to ensure we are doing so responsibly.

MISSION Brand

As we marched towards our five-year anniversary, the MISSION brand upgraded in a big way. Our organization underwent a visual rebranding to better reflect the ambition of our vision and caliber of our work and talent. You may have noticed the refresh of our website and LinkedIn page or walked past MISSION promotions in the airport on your way to WSIA.

After updating our brand identity, we took the opportunity to showcase our company to the wider industry, spotlighting our capabilities at industry events and conferences. This year, our organization had a presence at Target Markets, WSIA, and ITC.

At ITC, I was honored to share more about the MISSION vision with attendees in our panel presentation “From Underwriter to Entrepreneur: How Supportive Ecosystems are Helping Underwriters Become Innovators” alongside Kiley O’Connell, CEO of MISSION program Lynx Specialty, and Jake Morin, Senior Member Relationship Director at Accelerant.

MISSION Statements

We plan to showcase our expertise through this new blog: MISSION Statements. MISSION Statements will be a platform for our corporate and program leaders to share insights on the current state of the market and lessons learned from their varied careers.

MISSION will celebrate its five-year anniversary in 2026 with a celebration of the people and processes that have led to our success. Look out for several recognitions of our efforts across our social channels as well as an official, in-person celebration at our annual Miami GoMISSION event. Our goal is to spotlight the strong foundation we have established for our programs, engineered for continued success in the years to come.
